Holy Family Prayer – 6 Prayers to Support Your Family

As Ven. Fr. Patrick Peyton famously said, “The family that prays together stays together.” Praying together as a family and praying for a holy family can be profoundly beneficial to the strength and holiness of all the family members. Below we’ve shared a number of prayers to the Holy Family for your family. Feel free to print them out, or screen shot this blog post in order to say them daily.

Holy Family Prayers:

Jesus, Mary and Joseph, in you we contemplate the splendor of true love; to you we turn with trust.

Holy Family of Nazareth, grant that our families too may be places of communion and prayer, authentic schools of the Gospel and small domestic churches.

Holy Family of Nazareth, may families never again experience violence, rejection and division;

may all who have been hurt or scandalized find ready comfort and healing.

Holy Family of Nazareth, make us once more mindful of the sacredness and inviolability of the family, and its beauty in God’s plan.

Jesus, Mary and Joseph, Graciously hear our prayer. Amen.

– Pope Francis

Lord Jesus Christ, who, being made subject to Mary and Joseph, did consecrate domestic life by Your unspeakable virtues; grant that we, with the assistance of both, may be taught by the example of Your Holy Family and may attain to its everlasting fellowship. Who lives and reigns, world without end. Amen.

Jesus, Son of God and Son of Mary, bless our family. Graciously inspire in us the unity, peace, and mutual love that you found in your own family in the little town of Nazareth.

Mary, Mother of Jesus and Our Mother, nourish our family with your faith and your love. Keep us close to your Son, Jesus, in all our sorrows and joys.

Joseph, Foster-father to Jesus, guardian and spouse of Mary, keep our family safe from harm. Help us in all times of discouragement or anxiety.

Holy Family of Nazareth, make our family one with you. Help us to be instruments of peace. Grant that love, strengthened by grace, may prove mightier than all the weaknesses and trials through which our families sometimes pass. May we always have God at the center of our hearts and homes until we are all one family, happy and at peace in our true home with you. Amen.

Lord, You intended for the Holy Family to be an example for all, and for the Holy Spirit to enlighten our homes. May we, like them, be able to live according to the family virtues and stand united by the strength of Your love before meeting again for eternity in the joy of Your House. Amen.

Jesus, Mary, Joseph, model for all Christian families, I entrust my family to your care and protection. Bless each member of my family. Help me and the members of my family to love, listen to, support and accept one another. Encourage us to challenge one another to be compassionate, merciful and forgiving as we struggle with the difficulties of our lives.

Guide us to seek goodness and holiness in our everyday choices, actions and attitudes. Encourage us when our faith is weak and when we fail to lead one another to Christ. Make our home a real dwelling place of peace, joy and love, where you are ever present among us. May we work to uphold each one’s dignity, integrity and unique contributions to the well-being and growth of our family. And when our time on earth is complete, bring us all safely home to you in the company of heaven. Amen.

Heavenly Father, we ask You to bless our family.

Open our hearts to receive Your love. May our home be another Nazareth, so that our family may be a place where Your peace and love abides.

Open our eyes to recognize the gift and beauty of life, so that we may find joy in Your presence among us.

Grant us pure hearts seeking holiness, generous hearts full of Your love, merciful hearts ready to forgive and tender hearts full of kindness.

May our family be a sanctuary of life and love, a beacon of hope drawing others to your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen.

Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, Holy Family of Nazareth, pray for us.
